If you have worked under an Equity Film and TV contract since 2019 it is likely that you are eligible to tell the powerful producers union where they can go shove their Ai.

If you've been reading this newsletter, you know this moment has been a long time coming.​

Equity have made progress with some things but the powerful PACT (Read: Execs at Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney etc) are refusing to agree to give performers protections from their Ai.

It is widely believed that the large studios have plans to take your voice, your likeness, your performance and turn them into Ai slop for users to manipulate. They may then be manipulated over and over and over again. And you won't have the right to say no, because they belong to the studio now.

We are at a moment where we can say fuck off. If that moment passes, we cannot. We will be forced to turn up to be scanned, or fired in the same way that we would if we refused to turn up to a costume fitting.

Then we'll have to explain to the next generation of actors, why we didn't do anything about it.

If you have been worried about Ai coming for performers' already scarce jobs. This is the moment to stand and fight.

If you are eligible, you should have been emailed an Indicative Ballot from Equity. I encourage you to vote. The question is Would you strike if you were forced to be Ai scanned on set. Vote for what you feel is right.
